Getting Started with YelloBooth

Welcome to YelloBooth! Your smart card or wristband is your key to a connected school experience. With one card, you can make calls home, pay at the canteen, check your balance, and manage your savings.

Your Personal MTN Number

Important to Know

  • You receive a dedicated MTN phone number with your card
  • This number stays with you for your entire school duration
  • Your parents will see this number when you call them
  • Ask your parents to save this number in their contacts

Understanding Your Four Wallets

YelloBooth uses a four-wallet system to help you manage different types of money:

Pocket Money Wallet

Your main spending wallet

  • Used for canteen purchases
  • Parents top up via MTN MoMo
  • Can withdraw with permission

Airtime Wallet

Call credits only

  • Used for phone calls home
  • Charged by call duration
  • Separate from spending money

Savings Wallet

Your personal savings

  • Set savings goals
  • Cannot spend at canteen
  • Move back to Pocket Money when needed

School Fees Wallet

For school charges

  • School applies official charges
  • You don't spend from this
  • Parents manage this wallet

How to Use the Yéllo Booth

Login Process

Tap your card/wristband on the card reader
Enter your PIN (Be careful - 3 wrong attempts lock your account)
Choose from main menu options on the screen

Main Menu Options

Available Functions:

  1. Make a call - Call your approved contacts
  2. Check my balance - View all wallet balances
  3. Transaction history - See your spending and calls
  4. Savings wallet - Manage your savings
  5. Report lost card - Block your card if lost

Making Calls Home

How to Make a Call

Select "Make a call" from main menu
Choose from your approved contacts (parents/guardians)
Speak clearly and briefly - remember the booth is shared
End call properly using the on-screen button

Calling Windows

When You Can Call:

  • During calling windows: Full access to calls, up to your limit
  • Outside calling windows: No calls, but other functions still work
  • Parents can send voice notes via the YelloBooth app
  • Parents cannot call back directly to the booth

Airtime Top-up

Running low on airtime? Your parents can top up using:

*272*80# → Select 2 → Select your name

Canteen Payment System

How to Pay at the Canteen

Tap your card/wristband at the payment terminal
Check the amount displayed on the terminal screen
Enter your PIN to authorize the payment
Payment confirmed! Amount deducted from Pocket Money

Payment Issues

If Payment is Declined:

  • You'll see "Insufficient funds" if Pocket Money is empty
  • Ask parents to top up via *272*80# → Select 2
  • Money in Savings wallet cannot be used for canteen

Savings Feature

Managing Your Savings

The Savings wallet helps you save for goals and keep money safe from spending:

View balance: Check how much you've saved
Set goals: Name your goal and set target amount (e.g., "School trip UGX 50,000")
Transfer money: Move from Pocket Money to Savings
Protected funds: Cannot spend at canteen until moved back

Smart Saving Tips:

  • Set realistic goals you can achieve
  • Save a little each week
  • Track your progress regularly
  • Only move money back when you really need it

Security & PIN Management

PIN Security Rules

Keep Your PIN Safe!

  • NEVER share your PIN with anyone - not even friends
  • NEVER write your PIN down where others can see
  • SparkLab and school staff will NEVER ask for your PIN
  • You are responsible for ALL transactions made with your PIN
  • Three wrong attempts will lock your account

If You Forget Your PIN

Don't keep guessing - you'll lock your account
Go to your Liaison Officer immediately
PIN reset processed within 4 hours during business hours
Receive temporary PIN securely from Liaison Officer
Set new permanent PIN at booth on first use

Your parent receives an SMS notification when your PIN is reset for security.

Lost or Damaged Card

If You Lose Your Card

Act immediately to protect your account:

Two Ways to Report:

  1. At the Booth: Select option 5, enter your card serial number
  2. Liaison Officer: Report directly to your school's officer

While Waiting for Replacement

  • Serial Number Login: Enter card number instead of tapping
  • CNP Withdrawals: Still available up to daily limit
  • Replacement Fee: UGX 8,000 deducted from Pocket Money
  • Parent receives SMS notification about replacement

If Your Card is Damaged

Report to Liaison Officer immediately
SparkLab assesses if it's a manufacturing fault (free) or accidental damage (UGX 8,000)
Use serial number login while waiting for replacement

Important Rules

Remember:

  • Never share your PIN with anyone
  • Your card is for your personal use only
  • Report problems the same day they happen
  • Keep your card with you at all times
  • Be patient - other students need to use the booth too
